The Web Design Process

An overview of what is involved with creating a web site and what you can do to maximize the impact of your site. We'll focus on the following:

Domain Name.

The first thing you need to do is to decide on what you want your domain name to be. When choosing a domain name there are a few things that you'll want to bear in mind.

1. The name should be easy to remember and truly represent who you are and what you do. International domains (.com) do not need to be exactly the same as your business name and International domains (.com) do not require you to have a business registered in that name.

2. Australian domains (.com.au) DO REQUIRE an ABN and that the domain name be the same as (or as close as possible) to the actual business name in which the ABN is registered.

3. Domains are actually leased, we never actually own them.
Domain fees are as follows:

International Domains (.com, .net): $10 every year.

Australian Domains (.com.au): $40 every 2 years.

Gathering Your Information.

1. Images
1a. Remember to name all your images properly.

1b. A good size for images on the web is 640x480 and less. If you want your audience to see larger, high quality images then an option can be made available for them to view images at 800x600 or 1024x768 resolution.

2. Documents
2a. Documents in word format (.doc) are fine and will retain the formatting (paragraphs, headlines, etc...) that you desire.

2b. Here are some pages and elements you may want to create text for:

Pages and Possible Page Titles

  • Introduction
  • What's New and/or Recent Work
  • About
  • Products and Services
  • Awards and/or Testimonials
  • Shipping Information
  • Contact Information

2c. Speak directly to your audience. Less is always more!

Payment Centre

The Payment Centre is an easy and secure method to pay your invoices with your credit card or with your Paypal account.

1. How long will it take to get my web site up and running?

1. Of course it will ultimately depend on how much content you wish to publish. However, confidence is high that a 7-10 page web site that has all the images and text and layout concept worked out can be online in 5 days. 11-20 page sites can be online within 1 week to 2 weeks.
